Its a simply Steampunk kind of day!

Well its been a crazy weekend around here. The horrible events of the last 48 hours have hit just a little to close for comfort.  My thoughts and prayers go out to the officers and their family who have been injured in this tragic event. But also to our dear friends whose family home has been violated and their lives forever changed.

So everyone give those you love that extra squeeze next time you see them!

Today I decided to showcase one of the cards I made before Christmas. It features La-La Land Crafts Top Hat Marci she is available in both Digital and Rubber versions.  I made this card to showcase that you can make an elaborate card without a bunch of expensive embellishments or die cutting machines. This also makes it easier to mail and you do not have the extra charges associated with very thick cards.

Most important step is to make sure to pick a paper set with lots contrast and interest. The top paper from the BoBunny Somewhere in Time  paper pad had clocks and gears on it and I just cut and positioned my La La Land image to allow them to appear as embellishments.  I made sure to mat each layer of the paper with black cardstock. This allows the eye to focus on each paper individually   and make them appear important like framed artwork . Try and keep the rule of mixing up the pattern sizes of the paper  a contrast of colors as well as small ,medium, and large prints helps make the individual pieces stand out and not become a blur of images.

Try to chose colors when coloring you image that both coordinate with the paper but also allow the image to "pop" on the page.  For this image I stuck with the blue and grey theme but made the grey a purplish grey and the brightened up the blue shade in order to make it pop out and you eye to focus on it.

The colors used are :

Skin: E000, E00, E04, E11, E21, R20
Hair: E15, E18, R89, C6
Clothes: B02, B04, B05, B06, C00, C1, C3, BV11, BV13, BV17, Y32, Y35, Y38
Also on the Hat/shoes: BV23, BV25, BV29

The only final accents  were the "gears" which I traced out and cut out on paper. Some Glossy Accents  on the clock and circle letters for contrast, a hint on Wink of Stella clear glitter for some sparkle. And some small rhinestones in the corners on the papers just for fun.

I hope you have enjoyed this project , make sure you keep checking back throughout the week for new projects from me.

Happy crafting!
